Summary
"A successful trauma therapy is about more than just not having symptoms. It's really about having a life, a life that's about pursuing dreams, pursuing happiness. But especially it's about the right to have a present and a future that are not completely dominated and dictated by the past." Karen Saakvitne. Given the controversy that has surrounded the field of trauma therapy in recent years, it's important to be reminded of how valuable the work can be, of the enormous positive difference that psychotherapy can make in the lives of trauma survivors. While every trauma therapy follows its own unique course, there are certain elements that successful trauma therapies have in common. In this video series, Karen Saakvitne explores the many facets of a successful trauma therapy, and four therapist-client dyads describe the challenges they overcame and the goals they achieved during the course of treatment.
