Summary
In 1987 Spain had just entered NATO and become a member of the European Union. The political instability that had accompanied the transition period from the death of Franco and the country had overcome his condition could assume unapologetic European democracy. So the meeting between Michael, a veteran columnist devoted and admired, and Angela, a young freshman journalism student, is presented as an exercise in seduction in the heat of summer and the deserted city. Their relationship sets the aspirations of youth against the scars of experience, and sets up a way to understand Spain today.
